AURIGA RACING: HEAT MOULDING INSTRUCTIONS

Auriga Racing boots are heat-moldable to make them fit perfectly to your feet that feel like a second skin. Moldability is most effective at the ankle area, this area can be made wider, more narrow or totally reshaped almost without any limitations.

Molding the heel pocket is sufficient but limited since the bottom of the shell is extremely rigid and solid, so this part won't deform. The heel can usually be made 1-2mm smaller or wider. The same capabilities on the toe box area and medial or lateral side of the boot, the width of the boot can be enlarged up to +2-3mm.

Oven

Maximum 75 degrees Celsius, 15 minutes

Moulding your skate boot or cycling boot has its own advantages such as the controlled and continuous heating of the entire boot. If you want to mould your boot from more than one place at the same time, then oven should your preferred method.

Make sure that your removed your waxed laces from the boot before you put the boot into the oven. Now pre heat the oven at 75 degrees Celsius and keep the boot inside for 15 minutes. Now check if the boot gets softer from heel and ankle area if it is then put it over a folded piece of cloth and let it cool a little so that you can slip your foot inside without getting burned. If you skate with your socks, then make sure you are wearing your sock.

Now sit on a chair and slip your foot inside the boot and make changes at desired places while pressing or stretching it. While sitting on the chair keep your knee bent skate level and keep it like this until the boot gets cooled. You can make desired changes at different areas with some special tools as well. Please do not put too much load on sole of the boot while moulding, there are chances that the carbon is bent and you may disalign the mounting slot. Beware of too much heating of the boot. This may result in displacing the upper material from the carbon shell.

Heat Gun

Heating with the heat gun has one main benefit; it only heats the area that you want to mold, but nothing else. This means that you do not have to fear other parts of the boot to get deformed or damaged by coincidence. In general, your boot remains in a better condition and will be more durable.

Therefore, molding with the heat gun is more preferred when you have small pressure points in your boot, likely only on the inside or outside ankle, or at the navicular bone. You can use a ball and ring stretcher to make adjustments in a specific area.

The counter side of heatening with the heat gun is that the molding temperature is less easy to control. If you keep the heat gun too close to the boot you can easily burn the stitches or the leather. We advise to move the gun slightly on and around the spot that you want to mold in a circular motion.

As soon as the spot becomes soft, you may mold the shell with your hands (wearing gloves) or with a pair of shoe repair pliers.

In case you need to make adjustment only in a specific area or on a spot, then the heat gun is the best choice for the molding.

Please note, every time you heat mold your boot the durability is affected.

What is the difference between the Auriga Elite, Auriga Pro and Auriga Pro (Kids) Boots?

Auriga Racing boots all three variants are mainly made for four different sports (Inline, Short Track, Long Track, and Cycling). Each variant is constructed with different boot height and varying mount of different material, mounting blocks, and different stiffness.

Auriga Elite boots are full carbon boots and made with using a specialised light weight resin to maximize the overall boot strength and minimize the weight. Elite boots comes in sizes from EU38 to EU46 with the mounting spacing of 195mm.

Auriga Pro boots are made with the same carbon fibre that we use in our Elite boots but Auriga Pro boots have a couple of layers of glass fibre as well. The ratio of carbon fibre and glass fibre is 80%-20%. The stiffness of Pro boots is pretty much similar to Elite boots but Pro boots weigh a little more. Auriga Pro boots comes in sizes from EU38 to EU46 with the mounting spacing of 195mm.

Auriga Pro (Kids) boots are made specially for cadet and younger skaters. These boots have a perfect mix of carbon and glass fibre material giving the boots a perfect blend of stiffness and comfort so the younger skaters can steer the boot comfortably. The ratio of carbon and glass fibre is 50%-50%. Auriga Pro (Kids) boots comes in sizes from EU30 to EU37 with the mounting spacing of 150-165mm.

One thing which you should know that inside the boot and upper material of these boots is the same as in our Elite or Pro series.
